player ready...Theater Wit’s production of “Bad Jews,” playwright Joshua Harmon’s comedy of religious and cultural debate, will transfer to the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie this summer, a spokesman for the company said Wednesday.
The stage it will play there is normally occupied by Northlight Theatre.
This is not a typical move for Theater Wit, which owns and operates its own three-stage space in Chicago’s high-traffic Lakeview neighborhood. But this second run will allow for an additional three weeks of performances in a theater with a much higher seating capacity. North Shore’s stage seats about 300 patrons, whereas Theater Wit seats about 100.
The production, directed by Jeremy Weschler, will move with its original Theater Wit cast intact. Tribune critic Chris Jones called the production “smashingly venomous and cheerfully fearless.”
It begins at the North Shore Center, 9501 Skokie Blvd., on June 26 and continues through July 19. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.
The show completes its run at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave., which has also been extended, on June 21.
