A Lake Bluff resident surprised a burglar when she went into her garage the evening of May 23, police said.
The homeowner entered her unlocked garage on the 100 block of Ravine Forest Drive around 10 p.m., when she saw a man she didn’t know inside.

“It appeared like he was going through her car,” said Deputy Chief Michael Hoskins.
The man ran off, and she called 911. Hoskins said Lake Bluff and Lake Forest police were able to catch the suspect a block or two away.
Martin B. Nicholson, 25, of 422 W. Washington Avenue, Knollwood was charged with burglary. He was being held in Lake County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Hoskins recommends residents lock both their cars and their garages.
“We’ve had several cases like this in the last few months,” he said.
