Staffing shuffles that began earlier this year in Wilmette Elementary School District 39 picked up speed this month, as officials announced five new appointments at the district’s May 18 board meeting.
They included naming Cindy Anderson as the new Romona Elementary School principal. Anderson, currently sixth-grade assistant principal at Highcrest, will succeed Romona Elementary School Principal Heather Glowacki at the start of the coming school year. Anderson joined the district in 2002 as a math and science teacher before taking up the Highcrest assistant principal post in 2012.
In late March, district officials promoted Glowacki to the position of district human resources administrator, succeeding Margaret Clausen. Clausen, who is also an assistant superintendent, leaves at the end of the year to become superintendent of Skokie-Morton Grove Elementary District 69.
During the May 18 meeting District 39 Superintendent Raymond Lechner also announced a replacement for technology director Adam Denenberg, who is leaving at the end of the school year to become director of information services in Wheeling Consolidated School District 21.
Lechner introduced board members to his successor, Tony DeMonte, currently coordinator of instructional technology at Zion Elementary District 6 in Zion, a position he held for seven years. He previously taught and served as an assistant principal. DeMonte will take his new position July 1.
Lechner named current district teachers Aaron Dubnow and Eric Resis as new district assistant principals; both will start their positions July 1. Dubnow, currently an eighth-grade science teacher at Wilmette Junior High School, will become assistant principal for fifth grade at Highcrest Middle School, while Resis, who now teachers sixth grade at Highcrest, will become the eighth-grade assistant principal at WJHS.
Chimille Dillard, currently a science teacher at Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 223, was the second outside hire that Lechner announced at the meeting. Dillard, who has been with Homewood-Flossmoor for 15 years, will become assistant principal for the sixth grade at Highcrest.
In March, Lechner announced that Kelly Jackson, a former District 39 teacher and assistant principal at WJHS, is returning to the district to succeed outgoing principal Dave Palzet at Highcrest and the junior high. Jackson joined the district in 2001, but left two years ago to become principal of Cherokee Elementary School in Lake Forest School District 67.
In February, Palzet was named as the new superintendent of Pleasantdale School District 107 in Burr Ridge.
