The family of Michael Hernandez is trying to raise money for a potential reward that could lead to information relating to his disappearance.

So far, the page on GoFundMe has raised $3,350, with an eventual goal of $5,000. The reward fund can be accessed at gofundme.com/tvapuc.

It’s part of a full court press pursued by the family, who are desperately searching for some information on Hernandez, who hasn’t been seen or heard from since May 1. Friends last saw Hernandez was last seen around 11 p.m. May 1 as he was leaving the Safe House Bar and Grill on Crown Point’s Courthouse Square where he had watched the Blackhawks game with a co-worker. Hernandez had called his mother, Tiffany Longoria, shortly before 10 p.m. to let her know that he was headed to her house, but he never showed up. He was driving a blue 2008 Scion XD with Indiana plates 906LTI.

Volunteers have been searching parts of DeMotte and Roselawn — where Hernandez’s cell phone was last traced — since last week.

On Wednesday, Hernandez’s parents — Lorenzo and Tiffany Longoria — spoke to representatives from the FBI and the Indiana State Police in an effort to dedicate more law enforcement resources to the case. They have collected more than 7,400 signatures on a change.org petition requesting the help of the FBI.

Currently, the case is being handled by detectives at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. Anyone with tips on Hernandez’s whereabouts is urged to call Lake County Sheriff’s Department at (219) 755-3346 or (219) 755-3334.

Hernandez is married and has 20-month-old twin daughters. He is a salesman at Team Toyota dealership in Schererville.

The family wants to hold a candlelight vigil for Hernandez near Crown Point’s Courthouse Square soon, but a time, date and place have not been set as of press time.
