EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER: Capt. Alan Zaremba of Hollywood said both ribbontail plastic worms and Rapala floating jerkbaits fished on the surface were catching largemouth bass early in the morning in Everglades canals. Flipping plastic crawfish in heavy cover was best later in the day. He guided Tim Gray of Coral Springs to 25 largemouths up to 3 pounds on a late afternoon trip in the canals west of U.S. Highway 27. Jigs and Clouser minnow flies were catching peacock bass in urban canals.

SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE: Capt. Brian Sanders of Davie reported great fishing out of Chokoloskee Island, where his anglers were catching snook and redfish around the islands and river mouths, and snook, cobia and permit around shallow wrecks using live bait and plastic shrimp.

SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE: Sailfish, dolphin, kingfish and tuna were biting, but results have been mixed. Nick Mandich caught a 30-pound bull dolphin and a sailfish Wednesday kite-fishing in 100-200 feet off Fowey Light.

THE KEYS: Capt. Alex Adler of Islamorada said boats were catching fair numbers of schoolie dolphin, some black groupers and lots of yellowtail snappers.
