Joshua Hawkins, 19, of the 900 block of Pontiac Road, was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. April 30 at his home, police said.
Hawkins is scheduled to appear May 7 in Cook County Circuit Court on charges of felony cannabis delivery, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor alcohol possession as a minor, and misdemeanor unlawful use of a license, police said. He also faces an arrest warrant for allegedly violating release conditions on a previous charge, police said.
Wilmette Police Cmdr. Patrick Collins said investigators used unmarked police cars to stake out Hawkins’ neighborhood after residents complained that drug transactions were taking place in the public way near his house.
Collins said police began watching the area “a couple of weeks prior” to Hawkins’ arrest, and that officers saw evidence of drug sales the day of the arrest.
After Hawkins’ arrest, police got a warrant to search his home, they said. Once inside, they found 12.7 grams of cannabis, as well as a set of electronic scales, numerous plastic bags, other items of drug paraphernalia, and $1,250 in cash, police said.
During the search, officers learned that Hawkins was wanted on an active warrant for a condition of release violation in Cook County, police said.
Hawkins was released on bond, police said.
