The rainy weather moved the Monday baseball game between Wheaton North and Lake Park high schools to Wheaton College’s Lee Phund Stadium, where the teams played on artificial turf and under the lights.

Wheaton North’s offense took advantage of the wind blowing out — and several Lake Park errors — to take a big lead en route to a 11-4 victory. The Falcon’s Casey Becker threw a complete game to get the win.

After scoring a run in the first, visiting Wheaton North (8-17, 4-11) opened it up with four runs in the third. A bunt single, an error and a single up the middle lead to their first run of the inning, a home run by Erik Mueller scored the next three to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead.

Lake Park (10-13, 5-10) responded in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own to cut the lead to 5-2. But in the top of the fourth, three Lake Park errors contributed to a five-run inning for the Falcons, who upped the lead to 10-2. Doug Michalak also homered for Wheaton North, while Lake Park’s Michael Nielsen doubled twice. It was quite a change from the Saturday contest between the same two teams, when Lake Park won in a pitcher’s dual 2-1.

Naperville North 9, Glenbard North 2

Glenbard North lost the second straight game against Naperville North (12-13, 9-6) on Monday 9-2, to allow the Huskies to creep to within one game of first place in the DuPage Valley Conference. The Panthers (16-9, 10-5) allowed five runs in the bottom of the third to fall behind, and were never able to catch up. Glenbard North’s Zach Heck went 2-for-3 to lead their offense.

Wheaton Academy 10, IC Catholic Prep 0

Wheaton Academy senior Jake Lindstedt struck out 13 players and allowed no hits through six innings in beating IC Catholic Prep on Monday in Elmhurst. The pitcher did walk five, but he was always able to get out of trouble. The Knights (10-19, 4-10) put five runners in scoring position — including the third inning when Lindstedt walked the bases loaded — but they weren’t able to get a hit off Lindstedt.

Wheaton Academy (19-6, 13-1) got a solo home run from Harrison Taylor and added five runs in the sixth to go up 10-0. IC Catholic Prep got two runners on in the bottom of the sixth with a dropped third strike and a walk, but Lindstedt was able to get a line-out to center to end the game.

Naperville Central 5, Wheaton Warrenville South 0

On Saturday, Wheaton Warrenville South narrowly avoided getting no-hit against Naperville Central in a 5-0 loss. Naperville Central’s Ryan Eiermann took a no-hitter into the seventh before giving up his first, but he held onto the shutout. He finished the game with one hit and 12 strikeouts for the Redhawks (12-12, 6-8). Wheaton Warrenville South (11-14, 9-5) remains near the top of the DVC standings with Glenbard North, and will take on rival Wheaton North on Thursday.
