Thousands of dollars worth of rings, necklaces and earrings were stolen from an Aurora home.
According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, police are checking with local pawn shops and online databases in an attempt to locate the stolen jewelry.
The burglary occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Harbour Towne Place. Police would not say whether forced entry was made to the home.
“The city ordinances relating to pawn shops and second-hand dealers and the utilization of Leads Online have led to numerous success stories,” Ferrelli said. “Of course, laws and technology alone mean nothing without good old-fashioned police work and we’re doing all we can to locate the items and hold the burglar accountable.”
Ferrelli said he would encourage anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity between 7:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. on May 8 to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
