Two men were shot at a north Hammond bar early Friday morning.

Two other men entered Portside Pub, 1516 Indianapolis Blvd., about 3:25 a.m., and started talking to the victims, Hammond police spokesman Lt. Richard Hoyda said in a release. Witnesses reported that an argument started and a physical altercation broke out, the report said.

One of the two men who entered the bar then pulled out a handgun and began shooting, striking the two victims, Hoyda said.

A friend of the victims took them to a local hospital, where they were then rushed to a trauma hospital, Hoyda said. Their medical conditions were not available as of Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hammond Police Department at 219-853-6490.
