Right-hander Hector Noesi (1-4, 4.17) was to get the starting nod for the White Sox, who are coming off a series against Detroit in which they took two out of three.
The Reds were to counter with right-hander Jason Marquis (3-1, 5.22), who has won three straight starts.
For whatever reason, the White Sox have had the Reds’ number, winning 11 of their last 12 meetings. The Sox are 14-3 all-time against the Reds.
