Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at 5:10 p.m., I refreshed my screen on the Lake County Board of Elections website for, I hope, the final time for the next couple of years, and I would like to say an enormous THANK YOU.

I am thrilled to be able to serve the Bannockburn, Deerfield, Highland Park, Highwood and Riverwoods communities for another four years as a continuing member of the Township High School District 113 Board of Education. Many have commented on the low voter turnout and the apparent lack of interest in this recent election. I would like to state that the reason I wish to serve in this way is because of the commitment of all residents to a quality education for their students — children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc., and the level of involvement displayed by our residents. I am remembering what one of District 112’s past superintendents said when she was driving through our communities: everyone was reading, wherever she went, and she was immediately drawn to want to serve as well…

Thank you to those who supported my election efforts and, of course, to my husband Joel, children David, Lauren, Alexis and Michael for their belief in me. We have a great deal of work to do and I am up to the challenge!
