Police are investigating after gunmen stole three dogs from a Northwest Side family’s home earlier this week.
The armed robbery happened about 10 a.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of North Lawndale Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. Police said a man was inside his garage when three gunman approached, announced a robbery and stole three dogs.

Family members told WGN-TV that two of the dogs were pregnant. They claim the dogs are a special breed of American pit bull terrier worth about $15,000 each.
Julio Nieves, 72, was the family member who was robbed Thursday. He said the men pointed a gun in his face and fired a warning shot inside the garage before fleeing with the dogs.
“The guy who’s got the pistol in the hand, he tell me to go down,” Nieves told WGN. “So I go down on the floor and he keeps the gun to my head, and I just tell him ‘Don’t shoot me.'”
