Performance: Take the music of Gilbert and Sullivan, add a twist of Broadway show tunes and stir. That’s the concept behind “I’ve Got a Little Twist,” a musical revue being presented by the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players at 8 p.m. May 9 at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St. The show’s title is a take off on the Gilbert and Sullivan song, “I’ve Got a Little List” from their famous operetta “The Mikado.” The production features six singers known for many roles with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players. The musical show is where “The Mikado” meets “The Music Man,” where the “HMS Pinafore” sets sail for “Brigadoon,” where “The Pirates of Penzance” take shore leave “On the Town.” This one-of-a-kind show proves the Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire is still fun, fresh and full of life. The show also features hit Broadway show tunes from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Lerner and Loewe, Meredith Willson and Jerry Herman. The show is produced by Albert Bergeret and David Wannen and was conceived, written and directed by David Auxier. The musical arrangements and direction are by Mark York, with technical direction by James Mills. The cast includes Sarah Caldwell Smith (soprano), Angela Christine Smith (alto), Daniel Greenwood (tenor), Stephen Quint (comic baritone), David Wannen (bass baritone), David Auxier (baritone/master of ceremonies) and Mark York (piano). Tickets are $37-38, $15 for students and teens, and $12 for children. Details, (847) 543-2300 or jlcenter.clcillinois.edu.
