Students from Butler College Prep visited the photo exhibit, “Dandy Lion: (Re) Articulating Black Masculine Identity” – dressed in dandy style – inspiring the school’s administration to have its own “Dandy Day,” Friday, May 1.
“Dandy Day” will also be a fundraiser for a student whose home was robbed and then set on fire.
The “Dandy Lion” exhibit is an exploration of contemporary Dandyism as a form of masculine expression. Black Dandyism was a statement of identity through fashion dating back to the 18th century.
The exhibit continues through July 12 at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Columbia College, 600 S. Michigan Ave.; 312-663-5554, mocp.org
