Beginning May 7 and running through June 7, Theatre at the Center will be bringing the heartfelt Broadway musical “Big Fish” to its stage.
Bridget Earnshaw, Marketing Coordinator for Theatre at the Center at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, is thrilled to be have “Big Fish” be a part of their 2015 lineup. “We’re really excited about it,” Earnshaw continued, “It’s a newer show for our area. It connects to the audience with small town living and is family oriented.”
There’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to “Big Fish,” according to Earnshaw. “The costumes will be coming in from the original Broadway production.” These costumes were designed by William Ivey Long, who was recently nominated for his 15th Tony Award. William Ivey Long has also designed the costumes for Broadway hits like “Cabaret,” “Chicago,” “Hairspray,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Dreamgirls,” “The Music Man,” among many more and, “they’re gorgeous,” said Earnshaw.
In addition to running Wednesdays through Sundays at Theatre at the Center, “Big Fish” will also be hosting a slew of special event shows.
On May 10, at 7 p.m., as the audience can enjoy a post-show reception with the cast and designers of the show “Big Fish”.
On May 14 and May 20, the cast of “Big Fish” will have a post-show discussion with the audience about the show.
Teens Behind the Scenes is an event taking place on May 16 for $10, where teens can eat pizza with the cast and discuss the show, “Big Fish.”
For a total night out — and great date night idea — on May 28, there will be a pre-show dinner across from the theater lobby with the show to follow. Tickets for both dinner and the show are $52. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
