A woman was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit when she crashed into a vehicle head-on Wednesday night in Aurora, police said.
Aurora police said Jasmine Ranson, no age or address provided, was driving southbound on Aurora Avenue north of Clearwater Drive at 10:39 p.m. when her vehicle left the roadway, veered back onto the road and then drove into oncoming northbound traffic.
According to police crash reports, Ranson’s vehicle struck a northbound 2005 Dodge Ram head-on. The driver of the Ram, Dustin Martin, no age or address provided, and his four passengers were all taken to Aurora hospitals with injuries.
Ranson’s vehicle was found by first responders in a grassy area on the east side of Aurora Avenue. Police said she was rushed to an Aurora hospital and later flown by helicopter to a suburban Chicago hospital for treatment.
A preliminary blood draw showed Ranson’s blood alcohol level to be .196, police said. The legal limit is .08. She was charged with drunken driving, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
