Best list: Corporate Responsibility magazine recenlty released its annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens list, (http://www.thecro.com/files/100%20Best%20List%202015.pdf),and several local companies are included. Abbott jumped up 25 spots to No. 11, joining Jones Lang LaSalle (No. 20) as the only Chicago-area companies in the Top 20. Other area companies on the list include Northern Trust (60), Baxter (62), Allstate (74) and Motorola Solutions (94). This is the 7th consecutive year Abbott has been included on the list. The 100 Best Corporate Citizens list is based on review of 298 publicly available data points across seven areas: financial performance, environment, climate change, corporate governance, employee relations, human rights and philanthropy. Best renovation: Downtown Kenosha Inc. (DKI), announced that the Modern Apothecary was recognized as the best facade renovation over $7,500 at the Wisconsin State Main Street gala awards celebration April 17, hosted by Definitely De Pere and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. It was attended by over 300 representatives of Main Street programs throughout Wisconsin. The annual event features the best of the best of 37 Wisconsin Main Street communities. This is Kenosha’s first awards cycle as a new Main Street program, and earning an award in its first year of eligibility is a rare accomplishment. “The Modern Apothecary is an amazing reinvention of the traditional neighborhood drug store,” said Christopher Naumann, Executive Director of DKI. The Modern Apothecary is owned by Dr. Erin Merritt, and resides in a building owned by Clovis Point LLC. The building was renovated to suit the brand and theme of the tenant, with a rebuilt storefront system, its new windows now allow traditional visual merchandising and allow bright natural light into the space. The entire ground floor was improved and now features the best of new and old, blending in a way to offer the latest in medical and homeopathic remedies amongst nostalgic wood display cabinets and antique displays.
