A teenage boy was severely beaten by four men on Monday afternoon as he walked on Ashland Avenue in Aurora, police said.
The 16-year-old said he was walking in the 600 block of Ashland Avenue around 2 p.m. when four men jumped out of a silver Mercury Grand Marquis and began yelling gang slogans at him.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the men then proceeded to beat the victim, causing the teen severe head injuries. The incident appears gang-related, police said.
The teen was taken to an Aurora hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Following the battery, the men jumped back into the car and drove away northbound on Spencer Street.
Police are urging anyone with information to call investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
