A pair of Aurora men charged in connection with two shootings in 2013 in the city now have trial dates scheduled for later this year.
Aurora police arrested Andrew Bueno, 25, and Armando Delgado, 18, in September 2013 after they were spotted in a car that matched a witness description of the vehicle involved in shootings that occurred over a 90-minute span at two locations in the city.
Both men face attempted murder charges. Bueno is free on bail, while Delgado remains held in Kane County Jail.
Prosecutors allege Bueno and Delgado – who each appeared in court recently – were involved in two instances where a gunman approached a parked vehicle – first near Broadway Avenue and Bluff Street, later on North Avenue – and opened fire. No occupants of either vehicle were injured in the shootings, according to authorities.
Bueno has challenged his arrest and information obtained after being taken into custody on allegations police violated his rights and had no reason to stop the car he and Delgado were found in. A hearing on his motion to suppress statements and evidence is scheduled for May 18, while his trial is expected to begin on Aug. 24.
The judge reset Delgado’s trial date, originally planned for May 4, to Aug. 31.
