Performance: Carmel Catholic High School’s drama department will present its spring musical, “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” at 7 p.m. April 24 and 25, and at 2 p.m. April 26, 1 Carmel Parkway. Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, the musical was the 2002 season’s most awarded new show on Broadway and the winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical. It tells the story of a girl, Millie Dillmount, from a small-town in Kansas who moves to New York City to marry for money instead of love—a modern idea in the roaring 20s. She samples the “modern” flapper lifestyle, makes friends and runs into trouble when she moves into the Hotel Priscilla. Under the direction of Denise Sebastiano, Carmel Catholic Drama Director, a cast of more than 50 students brings this award-winning show to life. Audiences of all ages will enjoy the dancers, leading men, a dragon-lady of a vileness and her minions. Tickets are $12 and $6 for students. Details, (847) 388-3450.
