Loaves & Fishes Community Services has filled the position of president and CEO, without having to go far to find the candidate deemed best for the position.
Megan Selck, who has been filling the job on an interim basis, has been promoted to the job permanently.
Selck came to the agency two-and-a-half years ago as development director and moved to the helm to fill in after Charles McLimans, former president and CEO, resigned late last year to take a similar position near Milwaukee, with Feeding America.
The board of directors announced Selck’s promotion in a news release Tuesday that said her first priority will be bolstering current collaborations working to cut poverty and put an end to hunger in Chicago’s metropolitan region.
Peggy Beata, board president, said the selection comes at “a critical point” for the social services nonprofit, which every month provides food and support services for about 2,800 families in and around Naperville. Along with its busy hunger relief operation, Loaves & Fishes offers programs including job search help, skill-based instruction and public benefit assistance aimed at helping its clients regain their self-sufficiency.
Selck, who lives near St. Charles, is active in the Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties Inc., and is vice president of the Elmhurst College Alumni Association board, the release says. She completed her undergraduate work there before earning a master’s degree in organizational leadership at Gonzaga University.
