Charles Branham Jr., is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and battery by means of deadly weapon in the April 8 shooting of his ex-wife’s husband, according to court records.
Branham, 38, of Gary, is in custody and being held on $50,000 bail, court records show.
Police found Andrew Boyd, 31, lying in bed at his Glen Park home with a gunshot wound to his stomach, the police report states.
Boyd told Detective Alexander Jones he was at home when Branham entered the bedroom, “pulled out a gun and pointed it at him and said, ‘What’s this, you whoopin’ my kids,’ and then shot,” the probable cause affidavit states.
Branham’s 3-year-old daughter was in the room when the shooting occurred, the police report states, and his other children were elsewhere in the house, the report states.
