A married couple were recently arrested outside their place of employment in River Grove for allegedly stealing merchandise from the business.
Michael F. Domarcki, 53, of the 1700 block of North Joann Lane, Addison, Ill., and his wife, Adrianne K. Domarcki, 49, were both arrested at 5:04 p.m. April 9 on 1800 block of Fifth Avenue and charged with theft. The two allegedly had left the business’ warehouse that day with over $300 worth of stolen merchandise just prior to their arrest.
According to police, the two worked at Bazaar Inc., which is associated with Bargains in a Box, which is located next to the warehouse where they store merchandise. Michael Domarcki was a manager at Bazaar and his wife was a receptionist.
Prior to the police being notified, an employee allegedly approached the owner of the business about Michael and Adrianne Domarcki, alleging the two were stealing items. For four weeks, the owner told police he watched the two employees and allegedly observed the two taking items out of his warehouse.
River Grove Police Det. Miguel Villagomez told the owner to inform them the next time he suspected the pair may have been stealing.
“The owner let us know that he thought they were going to do it today [April 9] and we set up near the place,” Villagomez said. “They came out of the warehouse and we met up with them.”
He said the two had allegedly took clothing like Tommy Hilfiger T-shirts, sweaters, toilet paper, socks and coffee cups from the warehouse.
The Domarckis are scheduled to appear in court next on May 12.
