Five people were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:02 p.m. Saturday in Aurora.

Police said that Maria Soto, no age or address provided by police, was stopped at the intersection of East New York Street and North Smith Street just before the crash occurred.

According to crash reports, Soto went through the intersection before it was safe to do so and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on New York Street.

The impact of the vehicle, driven by Pierre Land, caused Soto’s vehicle to overturn and strike a third vehicle.

Soto was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Soto’s three passengers were also transported.

Land was transported to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for neck, back and shoulder pain.

Soto was charged with failure to yield at an intersection, no insurance and failure to properly secure a child in a safety seat. Land was cited for no insurance and driving on a suspended license, police said.
