Once again the love, passion and care that once made Long Grove great is going to be completely lost as those who were just elected will tear down history and have a complete disregard for the past. Those who have had the pleasure and privilege of visiting cities and villages throughout the world recognize that the rest of the world has preserved its buildings, homes and historic monuments while those elected have other agendas. “Tear Down That Long Grove Bridge” is a very sad state of affairs… Who cares about history?
After exhaustive meetings and attempts by Long Grove to provide an equitable solution to its road budget deficiency; time and time again we are met with failure. Those who have had the unequal pleasure of enjoying the obligation of Long Grove to take care of their roads wish to continue at the expense of others and a complete disregard for what is fair to all concerned. This appears to be just another selfish, self-serving agenda on the part of families that just do not wish to acknowledge a solution that would provide equity throughout our community.
When we moved to Long Grove in 1990 we witnessed the busloads of patrons coming from the North and South to visit our Village and enjoy its historic significance and its wonderful variety of shops. Although, we may have lost some of its luster, it is my belief that with the right strategic plan Long Grove can return to these glory days without sacrificing history. In fact, the history can play an important role in its “re-gentrification.”
It is my hope that those elected will take into consideration what is truly in the best interests of the entire village of Long Grove and not serve just those self serving interest groups. I agree it is time for a positive change and we can accomplish this together with a consolidated effort on the part of all the residents of Long Grove and a commitment to excellence for the future. It is possible to bring back the glory days of the past…
