Tanjie Brewer moved to Naperville last year and brought with her Stylish and Fit LLC, a fitness and life coaching business geared to bring out the best in each and every participant.

“It is all about empowering members to achieve their best in fitness, nutrition, health and beauty” says Brewer who left a corporate job to first started Stylish and Fit in Tulsa, Oklahoma, six years ago. “And I help them maximize their wardrobe, their habits and their way to approach health,” she adds.

The certified personal trainer, licensed fitness instructor, nutrition consultant, wardrobe stylist, and fashion designer started getting into fitness at a young age. “I started with cross country in seventh grade, and have stayed fit ever since,” Brewer remembers. Loosing her mother at a young age to health issues associated with an unhealthy life style only strengthened Brewer’s belief in leading a healthy, happy and fit life, she says.

Women and men of all fitness levels, ages and sizes meet up twice a week for guided work outs during the length of the challenge program. “The group environment encourages them to continue their work out program on their own outside of class,” Brewer has seen first hand. Cabinet analysis, food diary and guided clothes or food shopping are all part of the program.

Participants also have access to online work shops, seminars and consult sessions with health professionals and nutritionists, and even virtual cooking classes will be offered.

“It is not just about loosing weight, but it’s about being healthy,” Brewer strongly believes. Past successes of Stylish and Fit participants can be seen on the website.

Stylish and Fit is started its first Naperville-based program on April 10, with April 18 being the last sign-up date to fill 40 available spots for the almost four-month program. Classes will be held at Dream Dance Studios on 600 N. Commons Drive.

The Big Reveal at the end of the program will celebrate the successes of each participant with fun performances. Friends and family members are invited to see “the personal progression”, explains Brewer. “We celebrate the body and mind changes!”

Believing that a positive body image starts at an early age, Stylish and Fit is collaborating with Dream Dance Studios and Broadway In Naperville to offer a summer camp for children and starting June 15.

Camp Wiz is for children, 8 years and up, and young teens to explore their creative side and boost self esteem. Voice, music, playwriting workshops, dance electives and arts and crafts to help developing young artists explore their talents in a supportive setting, Brewer explains. The program concludes with a fashion show and Wiz production on July 11 at the Yellow Box.

Jo & Doh Donuts on Rickert remains open

Earlier this year Jo & Doh Donut’s second location, on North Aurora Avenue, closed abruptly.

Despite several attempts to contact the operational manager, Mel Yermat, who is also named as partial owner of the original Jo & Doh Donuts location opened on Rickert Avenue in the summer of 2013, has not responded to inquires about the closing.

Second owner Thomas Stilp has confirmed in an email that he has severed ways with his business partner Mel Yermat.

Stilp assures customers that the original Jo & Doh Donut store on 75th and Rickert “is under different management, different ownership and has a different way of working with customers.”

Jo & Doh Donuts first brought famed mel-o-cream doughnuts originating in Springfield, Illinois, to Naperville, adding a few creative touches, exploring taste combinations, and giving interesting names to their doughnut line, freshly baked daily.
