The incumbents were re-elected Tuesday to the Montgomery Village Board, and nobody in a way is more of an incumbent than Pete Heinz.

Heinz was elected to his eighth term on the board, village officials said.

Along with Heinz, voters also gave incumbents Stan Bond and Doug Marecek the nod to keep serving on the board. Newcomer Will Nanzer was also on the ballot, but fell short of election. Bond earned 31 percent of the vote, Marecek 29 percent, Heinz almost 28 percent and Nanzer 12 percent.

“At the end of this term it will be 32 years, that will be time to leave,” said Heinz.

He said he was happy with the results Tuesday night.

“It means I have been doing the right thing and the people wanted me back,” he said. “I am thankful for all the confidence everyone has for me to work in politics. They put me in office and they pay my wages. I have always been trustworthy and will always be.”

Marecek was voted into office for the first time. He was appointed two years ago after trustee Matt Brolley won the mayor’s race, leaving him to name his successor. This is the first time Maracek ran for office.

“I will continue to work hard and serve the citizens of Montgomery. We need more jobs, we need to increase the tax base, we have to continue to empower the staff,” he said, specifically citing what he called “a fantastic job this year” by Community Development Director Rich Young and Montgomery Economic Development Commission Chairman Charlene Coulombe-Fiore.

Bond will be serving a second term on the board in Montgomery. He said road work will be one of his major concerns.

“What can we do to bring more jobs and industry?” he said. “We need to work on the comprehensive plan, I am interested in bringing that to life, making the village more viable and attractive to development.”
