Pizza in five minutes, that’s the promise.
“Make it, bake it, take it”: That’s the motto of Pie Five Pizza Co., a fast-casual pizza chain breaking into the Illinois market. One of their first locations is looking to open in the Springbrook Prairie Pavilion shopping center on 75th Street just east of Route 59 by mid-April.
“Naperville is a vibrant place,” said Senior Vice President of Operations Chris Smith, who lived in south Naperville not too long ago and is excited to oversee the market emerging with a downtown Naperville location in the plans also. “The Springbrook development fit our tight real estate screening.”

Customers can either choose from 10 signature pies or “build your own”, explains Smith. “We offer four types of crust – artisan thin, classic pan, whole grain thin and gluten-free.” Add one of eight sauces, choosing from a simple olive oil to a more adventurous spicy Sriracha marinara, and top it off with a choice of cheeses, meats and veggies.
The concept is quite simple and each single-serve pizza is $6.99. The patented turbo chef oven technology has the Pie Five pizza ready in 145 seconds. “Baked evenly every single time,” claims Smith. Eat in or take-out, both are an option at the 78-seat location. “We are looking forward to hosting team parties and school events,” Smith adds. And although online ordering is still in the works, customers will be able to call in big orders ahead of time.
“Chicago is a great market, a history of pizza, and we are excited,” states Smith of their destined Midwest corporate hub. Lincolnwood and Schaumburg locations are already opening and plans for Elmhurst, Glenview and Algonquin are set for early summer openings. “All in all about 50 locations are planned in Chicago,” he adds.
“Defining the pizza experience”, states the Pie Five Pizza’s motto that started in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2011, and is quickly developing to be a business format just as successful as their pizza recipes, with numerous awards from Forbes to Movers and Shakers among others. Pie Five Pizza Co is a subsidiary of what was formerly known as Pizza Inn Holdings and has recently been renamed Rave Restaurants Groups, and a new president was appointed to go with the name change.
The company has 37 restaurants in 10 states, according to its website.

Nails and more
America’s Sweetheart Nail Spa opened last summer looking to service a growing south Naperville community out of their 2694 Forgue Drive location, just off Route 59.
“We’ve been doing nails for 15 years,” says Kevin Tran, one of the location managers part of a big Tran family owning the nail studio. Brother Tom Tran also joined in bringing along his expertise in gel and acrylic nails. Both brothers had previously been working at one of the largest nail studios at the Westfield Fox Valley Mall in Aurora.
Ten stations for manicure and pedicure treatments can handle walk-ins as well as appointments and larger group events, Tran adds. Polishes come in all colors from popular brands such as OPI and Shellac. “Mood changing colors are a spring trend now,” Tran says.
Other services offered at America’s Sweetheart Nail Spa are waxing and eye lash applications.
The nail salon is not trying to be super fancy, but looking to offer a family-feel friendly environment with competitive prices. A regular manicure and pedicure costs $35, a no chip manicure is also $35, with special event discounts available online at http://www.asnailsspa.com.
