Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Your 2015 MLB preview edition is here, but we can’t do that just yet.

First, we have to acknowledge DePaul’s latest coaching hire. A move that absolutely reeks of, let’s see, apathy, cluelessness, laziness and a complete unawareness of the school and the city.

Ladies and gentlemen, back for a second tour, Dave Leitao.

Good news: We don’t have to worry about him leaving for a better job. His days as the hot young prospect died about, oh, 10 years ago.

The bad news: It doesn’t look like the school even tried, even lifted a finger, to get a better candidate.

My inner eighth-grader right now is going, “Seriously? Really? Ick.”

I have to say, with its CBI championship, Loyola’s passing DePaul. Raise your hands if you went to that. OK, there are two of you.

That’s right. On the list of schools local recruits turn down, Loyola is ahead of DePaul.

All right, it’s baseball! Let’s keep this simple. I am going to temper local expectations a bit. Let’s just say for the Cubs and Sox, “I like where they’re headed, but not yet.”

Not you, though. You’re crazy about the Cubs. You just got out of baseball prison and want to go meet some baseball ladies.

What on Earth does that mean?

The good news is Wrigley Field will be ready. Kind of. Safety note: Don’t lean against any walls and please avoid sitting down. Also, bring a hard hat.

Anyway, regarding Kris Bryant: I don’t care when he gets here. That division title is NOT happening this year. It’s called pitching AND defense. Nobody knows how any of these guys are in the field.

The White Sox may be closer. Yep. Better pitching. Good speed. Good defense. Guess what? It’s a National League team playing in the American League. Their ideal manager? It’s probably Ozzie Guillen. Weird.

Now to the surreal. Tank Johnson—yes, him—is giving “advice” to recent Bears pickup Ray McDonald.

Thanks, Tank. Please tell him not to carry a gun and stay out of certain clubs. It’s called “common sense” and is very hard to come by.

In Chicago, anyway.
