A Warrenville man allegedly hid two loaded handguns inside the vehicle of a 68-year-old woman following an early Monday morning shooting, Aurora police said.
Police located the weapons inside the woman’s vehicle after they were called to an apartment complex parking lot in the 200 block of North Oakhurst Drive around 2:45 a.m. for reports of shots being fired.
When officers arrived, they found two vehicles that were connected by jumper cables. A 68-year-old woman was sitting inside a sedan and Andrew Longhi, 35, was standing outside of a pickup truck.
When asked about the reported gunshot, Longhi allegedly told police that he was receiving a jump start from the woman in the sedan when his truck backfired.
During their investigation into Longhi’s claim, police said they located a shell casing outside the truck.

Both Longhi and the woman consented to searches of their vehicles.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said two loaded, semi-automatic handguns were located inside the woman’s vehicle. The woman was placed under arrest and questioned, but was later released without charges after police learned that Longhi allegedly hid the weapons inside the sedan.
Ferrelli said that it appears that Longhi had called the woman for help jumping his truck when he became upset for some reason and fired a shot into the air.
Longhi allegedly never pointed his weapon at the woman or threatened to shoot her.
Ferrelli said police believe Longhi then hid both weapons inside the woman’s vehicle.
No definite motive has been established, but Ferrelli said police believe it is an isolated incident. Longhi was charged with illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and no FOID card.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
