Consumers Credit Union (CCU) held its 85th Annual Meeting on March 18 in conjunction with Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA). A highlight of the meeting was the awarding of $1,500 scholarships to six Lake County students.
“Consumers Cooperative Association is proud to offer our scholarship program to help local students pursue a college or university degree,” said Julian Penny, president of Consumers Cooperative Association, in a news release. “We believe it’s important to support our young people by providing them with this financial opportunity. We hope these scholarships help our winners achieve their dreams in their journey from high school to becoming our leaders of tomorrow. We are excited for all six winners and look forward to seeing great things from them in the future!”
The 2015 scholarship winners include Michail Danos, Warren Township High School; Michelle Flores, Waukegan High School; Mackenzie Splitt, Warren Township High School; Katherine Finerty, Mundelein High School; Daniel Ludowise, Waukegan High School, and Katerina Dague, Grant Community High School.
The recipients will be able to use the scholarship at the college or university of their choice.
“The credit union is proud that Consumers Cooperative Association provides scholarship opportunities for the families of our members,” said Sean M. Rathjen, CCU president/CEO. “Our future depends on the development of our next generation of leaders and we’re pleased to be affiliated with an organization that supports that development.”
