Aurora police are searching for a 35-year-old man wanted for attempted murder after he allegedly forced his way into an Aurora home Friday morning and shot a man during a domestic-related incident.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the 40-year-old male victim is in critical condition after suffering a single gunshot wound to his side. The victim underwent surgery at an Aurora hospital following the 10:10 a.m. shooting in the 1800 block of Brighton Circle.

According to Ferrelli, Enrique B. Jaquez, of the 300 block of Pearl Street, Montgomery, is also charged with home invasion, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon stemming from the shooting.

Jaquez allegedly knocked on the front door of his 34-year-old former girlfriend’s home and when she answered, he forced his way into the home and shot the other man, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office. Both the victim and Jaquez then ran from the residence — the victim around the house and Jaquez southbound on Brighton Circle to his SUV, that was parked nearby, and fled the scene. Police later recovered the vehicle in the 1900 block of Kevin Drive in Montgomery.

Jaquez is a male Hispanic, 5’10, 220 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Ferrelli.

Anyone with information is asked to call police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
