Kane County prosecutors said a North Aurora man was driving with no license and a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal driving limit when he caused a December 2014 crash that injured an Aurora man.

On March 16, prosecutors upped charges against Mark Paryz, 31, 1500 block of Hartsburg Lane, North Aurora, to felony offenses for allegedly driving his vehicle into the back of a vehicle driven by James Klingel, 44, of Aurora, and causing a three-vehicle crash.

Klingel was injured in the crash and transported to an Aurora hospital for treatment.

Court records show Paryz’s license was suspended at the time of the crash because of two previous drunken driving offenses.

According to North Aurora Police Department Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki, Paryz was driving his Ford Explorer northbound on Orchard Road at 6:04 p.m. when his vehicle crashed into Klingel’s vehicle. Police said Klingel was stopped at a red light near Orchard Gateway Boulevard in his Volkswagen Passat when he was struck from behind.

The crash caused Klingel’s vehicle to rear-end a vehicle driven by Pamela Melnick, 60, of North Aurora.

Buziecki said Melnick and Paryz were not injured.

Paryz was charged with failure to reduce speed and drunken driving following the crash.

Three months later, Kane County prosecutors upped those charges to felony offenses.

On March 16, Paryz was charged with eight counts of felony drunken driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
