Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In today’s electronically dependent world, a cracked screen or water damaged device can be devastating. Thankfully, Dr. Gadget can have you back in business in as little as an hour for a cracked iPhone screen.

Dr. Gadget opened in early March at 4430 E. New York St. in Aurora. Their store is across the parking lot from Best Buy and next door to Super Cuts, just north of Westfield Mall.

The store is owned by brothers and Aurora natives, Mohammed and Faiz Haq. The Haqs have been doing phone and tablet repair for the past two and a half years as a side business while working out of their home. Mohammed worked full time in marketing while Faiz, a disabled Navy veteran sold cars. As their side business grew, the brothers decided to expand to a store front location.

Dr. Gadget specializes in repairing phones and tablets for Apple and Android products. Both brothers are Certified Master Technician Level 3 Specialists. In addition to cracked screen repair, the Haqs fix charge ports, home and volume buttons, repair or replace batteries and offer a diagnostic service. Other electronics such as gaming systems and computers are also mended by Dr. Gadget.

“We have even brought four devices back to life after they were submerged in water,” says Mohammed Haq.

Turnaround is one to two hours for a cracked screen, but may be several days for water damage, says Haq. Appointments for service can be made by phone or through their website. Walk-ins are also welcome. All repairs come with a 30-day warranty.

Customers can peruse the extensive display of parts and accessories while waiting on their repair. Items include cases, chargers, speakers, power banks and the new selfie sticks. Haq also recommends tempered glass protection that goes over the cellphone or tablet screen. The tempered glass will absorb the shock from a drop and it is less expensive to fix than a glass screen.

Dr. Gadget is running a few specials through the end of April. Customers will receive 25% off all accessories or 20% off all repairs.

Wings, Etc. Comes to Yorkville

Wings, Etc., a sports themed pub, opened a new location in Yorkville at 1447 Cannonball Trail. The store is owned by Mike Northrop and is located on the corner of Route 34 and Cannonball Trail next to Dollar General. The restaurant has a large dining space that can seat 166 diners and offers both dine in and carry out options.

As the name suggests, Wings, Etc. specializes in jumbo and boneless wings with 19 signature wing sauces. “Our wings are drizzled with sauce, not tossed,” says general manager, Jacki Klemm. Die hard tossers can order their wings buffalo style, Klemm adds.

Other Wings, Etc. favorites include wraps, salads, soups and chili, burgers, seafood, sandwiches and more. A children’s menu is available to diners under 12.

Lunch patrons will love the Size Does Matter menu, served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Weekday specials, running Monday through Thursday include wings, chicken tenders and shrimp.
