Prosecutors in the case against a chiropractor accused of sexual assaulting a patient in Highland Park will seek to introduce a claim that he similarly mistreated another patient.
Kevin Dutton was charged last June with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 22-year-old Lake Forest woman who sought chiropractic treatment from him at Your Wellness Circle in Highland Park.
Dutton, a 39-year-old Chicago resident who remains free on bond while he awaits trial, appeared at a brief court hearing in Lake County Friday.
Assistant State’s Attorney Lauren Kalcheim Rothenberg said a woman in her 30s contacted authorities in Lake County claiming Dutton also had inappropriate sexual contact with her during a chiropractic examination, this one at Soulistic Spa in Chicago. Rothenberg said she has filed a motion seeking to introduce that woman’s claim as part of the case against Dutton.
Dutton’s attorney, Steven McCollum, asked for time to file a response to the new claim. Dutton is scheduled for trial on May 18 and is due back in court on April 13.
Dutton’s license to practice has been temporarily suspended by state regulators pending the outcome of the case.
