In a war-torn future, civilization has split into five factions, including Dauntless for the brave, Erudite for the intelligent and Candor for the honest. That’s the premise behind the smash-hit “Divergent” trilogy by local author Veronica Roth, who incorporated real Chicago landmarks when writing the young-adult novels.

The big-budget, big-screen version of “Divergent” filmed in Chicago for three months in 2013; its sequel, the just-opened “Insurgent,” shot only exteriors in Chicago last autumn.
