A man made off with $400 worth of jewelry after he snatched it from a store clerk and ran from the Aurora jewelry shop.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the 50-year-old clerk was working at the store in the 1900 block of West Galena Boulevard around 10:20 a.m. Saturday when the suspect came into the store and asked to see a pair of earrings and a ring.
The clerk said when she produced the jewelry, the suspect snatched it from her and ran.
The suspect was described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 140 pounds with short black hair. He was wearing a gray baseball hat, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Ferrelli said he had a tattoo of the letters “JEL” written in cursive on the top of one of his hands. The man was also described as running flat-footed.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Aurora police at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
