Chicago Fire midfielder Shaun Maloney has been called up to play for Scotland’s men’s national team in a pair of upcoming international matches.
The first is an international friendly next Wednesday against Northern Ireland. A UEFA EURO 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar follows on March 29. Both games will be played in Glascow, Scotland.
Maloney will depart following Sunday’s Fire match at San Jose and he’ll miss the March 29 Major League Soccer match against the Philadelphia Union.
Also Friday, the Fire announced they’ll loan Naperville native Patrick Doody to their USL-PRO affiliate in St. Louis. A Neuqua Valley High School graduate and Fire Academy and PDL alum, the rookie defender is among four Homegrown players on the Fire roster.
