A 17-year-old Sandwich teen is facing felony charges after allegedly spitting on two Aurora police officers during a traffic stop Monday evening.

The teen was a passenger inside a vehicle that was stopped around 8:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Lake Street in Aurora. Police said following the stop the vehicle’s 16-year-old driver from Yorkville was charged with speeding and possession of tobacco by a minor.

Several passengers inside the vehicle were also placed under arrest after police allegedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

According to police reports, as officers were taking the 17-year-old into custody for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of brass knuckles, and possession of tobacco by a minor, the teen allegedly became combative toward officers.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said that’s when the teen allegedly spat on two officers attempting to move him to a transport van. He was subsequently charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery to a police officer.

Two other passengers were also charged during the stop, Ferrelli said.

Tachae Miles, 20, 3100 block of Kennedy Street, Montgomery, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Triston Bryant, 18, 0-99 block of Wooden Bridge Drive, Yorkville, was charged with possession of marijuana after police found 26 grams of marijuana in two separate bags underneath a seat in the vehicle.
