The Libertyville Little League will install new bleachers for the recently renovated AAA baseball field at Butler Lake Park.
The new bleachers continue renovations to the AAA field that started in the spring of 2013. This year’s capital improvements increase capacity, and overall spectator safety. The new stands have more guardrails and will raise fans’ view of the game above the existing chain link safety fences. In 2013, the league erected new backstops and installed permanent, partially sunken dugouts on the AAA ball field. Soft netting was installed down both baselines last year to protect families while they enjoy the games..
The new, raised bleachers are similar to seating modifications made a few years ago at the adjacent youth football fields.
The Libertyville Little League will host its 2014 Opening Day on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. at Butler Lake Park.

Bark For Life
The American Cancer Society and the Kenosha Kingfish summer college baseball team have teamed up for the Bark For Life, a noncompetitive walk for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer.
The walk will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Simmons Field on Sheridan Road, which is home for the Kingfish. There is no registration fee to participate in the event; however, participants are encouraged to fundraise, and will receive incentives for doing so. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Kenosha event.
The event itself will have opening and closing ceremonies, demos, contests, games, and more.
Ballpark food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day. The event will also feature the Aurora Health Care Kid Zone games, including the bounce house, speed pitch, bobblehead ring toss, and Kingfish sandbox.
Visit http://www.relayforlife.org/barkkenoshawi to register, or contact Susan Jenewein at [email protected] for vendor and sponsor information.
