GARY—A masked gunman entered Kentucky Fried Chicken at 900 Broadway Sunday night and announced a robbery, police said.
As three employees hid in a back room at about 8:35 p.m., the gunman pointed a pistol at a 35-year-old manager and demanded cash.
He then left with neither money nor chicken, the police report states.
A Lake County K-9 officer assisted Gary police in tracking the suspect’s path to a home in the 700 block of Adams Street, where police spoke to five men. One was arrested for a warrant, Lt. Thomas Pawlak said.
The would-be robber was described as tall, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, Pawlak said. He was wearing a black and gray flannel hooded sweatshirt and black mask.
Pawlak said Detective Daryl Gordon would review the restaurant surveillance tape. Anyone with information about the robbery can call 881-7545.
