Three men were each ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail Sunday after prosecutors said they assaulted and stabbed three teenage males outside a Southwest Side shopping center.
Celso Jaimes, 22, Mario Queroz, 21, and Eugene Talavera, 23, are charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in a melee Friday outside a shopping center in the 5200 block of South Pulaski Road, according to Cook County court records.
The attack left a 17-year-old hospitalized at Mount Sinai Hospital with a collapsed lung, a punctured diaphragm, a damaged spleen and a cut from his mouth to his cheek, Assistant State’s Attorney Danny Hanichak said in court.
Jaimes, Queroz and Talavera were walking toward the shopping center and passed the three teens, ages 16, 17 and 18, Hanichak said.
The three defendants shouted gang slogans at the victims, Hanichak said, and Talavera took out a knife as they approached the teens.
A fight ensued, and Talavera stabbed the 17-year-old in the torso and then sliced his face, Hanichak said.

Talavera then stabbed the 16-year-old in the torso, according to Hanichak.
Queroz took out a knife and stabbed the 16-year-old in the back and the 17-year-old in the shoulder, Hanichak said.
The 18-year-old sustained a shoulder injury that required stitches and his jacket was taken by Jaimes, according to Hanichak.
The three defendants then fled in a vehicle, Hanichak said, and were arrested later Friday in the same vehicle.
The attack was caught on the shopping center’s surveillance cameras, and the three were identified by the victims, Hanichak said.
The 16-year-old was treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and received stitches to his back and torso, according to Hanichak.
Court records list Queroz’s home address in south suburban Burbank, while Jaimes and Talavera have home addresses in Chicago.
