Honey-Jam Café opened under new ownership on January 19th after being closed for almost a year and a half. New owner, Jim Garofalo, also owns Honey-Jam Café in Downers Grove and Bolingbrook along with partners Rob Tibbals and Lindsay Dewey. Honey-Jam Café was formerly owned by the Portillos Restaurant Group.

The restaurant reopened in the original location at 521 N. Randall Road and serves breakfast and lunch items. While much of Honey-Jam remains the same, the new owners added an eight seat counter at the back of the restaurant for diners who come in by themselves.

According to Garofalo, many of the old favorites will still be served while they integrate new items into the menu including red velvet French toast and new salads and sandwiches. “We hope to roll out new menu items in the other stores in the next few weeks,” says Garofalo.

Breakfast favorites include the egg white omelet and frittatas. Lunch items include the new prime rib Panini, wraps, salads and burgers. “Our best seller at lunchtime is our half sandwich and half cup of soup,” says Garofalo. Both breakfast and lunch menus include a kid’s menu, healthy options and gluten friendly items.

Honey-Jam Café offers a free banquet room for your next shower, birthday party or corporate event. The room seats 65-70 people. If you want to keep the event at your home or office, Honey-Jam Café has a full catering menu online and delivery is available.

A rewards program will start next month as a way to thank Honey-Jam’s loyal customers. Guests will receive points for every purchase including catering and banquets. “We value our guests and want to show them how much we appreciate their loyalty,” says Garofalo.

Honey-Jam Café is now hiring in the Batavia store. Interested applicants should apply in person.

Mobile groomer opens shop

Former mobile pet groomer, Krysta D’Amico has opened a new shop in St. Charles after an accident totaled her grooming van in November. All Star Pet Grooming is now located at 1820 Wallace Avenue, Unit 113 on the east side of St. Charles. “I am grateful that so many of my mobile clients now bring their dogs to me,” says D’Amico.

The new shop is located in an industrial area rather than a busy retail space, which keeps the noise level down for nervous pets.

All Star Pet Grooming is a full service groomer for both dogs and cats. Services include bath, hand blow dry, nail trim, ear cleaning and haircut. Clients that mention this article will receive a free tooth brushing which is a $5 value.

D’Amico believes in taking one on one time with her four-legged clients and grooms by appointment, rather than keeping the pets waiting in cages for their turn. The best way to make an appointment is by texting or calling. “It sounds weird, but a lot of people text me because they know I am busy grooming,” says D’Amico.

All Star Pet Grooming celebrated the opening of their shop with a ribbon cutting last week.
