The 2015 Fire roster has some familiar faces but also many new names as they seek a return to MLS prominence after a number of disappointing seasons, including a 6-10-18 campaign in 2014.

Midfielder David Accam, 24

Designated player got his start at 12 at the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.

Midfielder Alex, 26

Had one assist in 24 starts and 28 games last year, his third with the Fire.

Forward Quincy Amarikwa, 27

Led the Fire in goals with eight on 76 shots in 32 games in his second season.

Goalkeeper Jon Busch, 38

Returns to the Fire after making 137 saves in a career-high 34 starts for San Jose last year.

Defender Greg Cochrane, 24

Earned two assists in 12 games — all starts— in his first Fire season.

Midfielder Razvan Cocis, 32

Joined the Fire last July from Ukraine’s FC Hoverla. Also has played in Russia and Saudi Arabia

Forward Guly do Prado, 33

Had 23 goals in 118 appearances for Southampton (England) the last two seasons.

Defender Patrick Doody, 22

Fire Academy Under-18 product and team captain on Indiana’s 2014 Big Ten tournament finalist.

Defender Adailton dos Santos Filho, 31

Signed with the Fire late last year from Brazil. Captained Brazil as it won Under-20 World Cup in 2003.

Midfielder Collin Fernandez, 18

Downers Grove North product was U.S. Soccer Development Academy player of year in 2013-14.

Defender Eric Gehrig, 27

Four-year Crew veteran from Schererville (Ind.) was a three-time first-team All-Horizon pick at Loyola.

Forward Kennedy Igboananike, 26

Designated player from Nigeria had 64 goals in 168 appearances with four Swedish clubs.

Goalkeeper Sean Johnson, 25

Matched a career high with six shutouts and helped preserve 18 ties last season.

Defender Joevin Jones, 23

Has 37 caps since 2010 with the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

Goalkeeper Alec Kann, 24

Kann had 18 shutouts and a 1.00 goals-against average in four seasons at Furman.

Defender/midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, 31

Fire captain arrived in a 2013 trade with Colorado. Is expected back in midfield this season..

Forward Mike Magee, 30

Returns from an injury-plagued season after winning MLS most valuable player honors in 2013.

Midfielder Shaun Maloney, 32

Fire’s third designated player was signed in January from the Premier League’s Wigan Athletic.

Midfielder Patrick Nyarko, 29

First-round pick in the 2008 draft continues recovery from offseason surgeries.

Defender Lovel Palmer, 30

Has made 126 appearances (113 starts) for four MLS teams since 2010.

Midfielder/defender Matt Polster, 21

2015 first-round draft pick out of SIU–Edwardsville. Played three games for Fire’s PDL team in 2014.

Midfielder/defender Chris Ritter, 24

Made eight starts and did not score in his rookie year out of Northwestern and New Trier.

Forward Harry Shipp, 23

Led the Fire with six assists in 33 games in 2014 and was a finalist for MLS Rookie of the Year.

Midfielder Michael Stephens, 25

Naperville native played last year for former Fire coach Bob Bradley at Stabaek (Norway).

Midfielder Matthew Watson, 30

Started 22 games last year. Scored his first career goal in September against D.C. United.
