Concert: EnsAmble Ad-Hoc will perform at 5 p.m. March 8 for the fourth performance of the 13th annual Early Music Series at Byron Colby Barn, 1561 Jones Point Road. EnsAmble Ad-Hoc was created in Bogotá, Colombia, under the guidance and support of Early Music specialist Eduardo Vargas. Interest in further knowledge to better approach the repertoires they performed brought its founders to the United States to pursue graduate studies in Early Music. The ensemble specializes in the performance of pre-classical repertoires, with special attention to Italian and Spanish music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The core duet may be joined by ad-hoc members according to the nature of each program. Audience members are welcome to bring a bottle of wine to share with friends during performances. Performance: A madcap mix of improvisation, comedy and Broadway show tunes is in store for audiences of “Broadway’s Next H!T Musical,” coming to the College of Lake County at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13 at 19351 W. Washington St. This one-of-a-kind show features a hilarious team of master improvisers from New York who gather made-up, hit song suggestions from the audience and then turn them into an unscripted theatrical awards show and full-blown improvised musical. When audiences arrive at the theater, they are invited to write down made-up song titles on slips of paper and drop them in a giant fishbowl. Four master thespians take turns coming to the stage and drawing song titles from the bowl. They take the titles and turn them into full-blown improvised songs, fighting tooth and nail against each other to win the grand prize of the evening: the Phony Award. Then the audience votes for their favorite song and watches the cast turn it into a full-blown improvised musical during the second half, complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue and plot twists galore.
