Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It goes without saying, but when it comes to delivering an instant dose of design inspiration, nothing beats the Internet. Most recently we wiled away an hour or two (or three? Didn’t time ourselves!) on Design Milk, an online magazine devoted to the latest in art, architecture, interior design, furniture and more.

It’s there we learned of Tingest, a cool newish line of home products manufactured in Sweden that prioritizes three things: Natural materials, sustainability and a modern but playful aesthetic reflecting Scandinavian design heritage plus other ancient and modern influences. Helmed by Alexander Lervik, Tingest recently released its 2015 collection, and we’re onboard with it.

Highlights include streamlined-but-unserious salt and pepper mills (Konnassoren) designed by Lervik and reflecting the contours of Japanese board game pieces. Crafted from ash wood, these fine-milling mechanisms look a little bit Memphis. Meanwhile, Astrid Olsson’s black-and-white Morse Plaid blanket features, as the name suggests, a Morse code–inspired motif, which translates to a bold visual statement as well as a ‘secret’ graphic one.

Tingest really shines in the candle-holder department. Designed by Broberg & Ridderstrale, the Pythagoras candelabrum sizzles with an appealing geometric shape — a series of triangles that have an optical illusion effect when viewed from different angles. We could go on, but you probably should just see for yourself: tingest.se.
