Two Aurora shootings were reported this weekend in the wake of the shooting death of a 17-year-old Friday.

Police said around 2 a.m. Sunday a 22-year-old Aurora man was warming-up his vehicle in the 700 block of Foran Lane when he was fired upon. The man was sitting alone inside the vehicle when it was struck three times. The bullets missed their target and never hit the victim, said Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries he sustained when the bullets caused some of the vehicle’s windows to shatter.

Police said the victim reported that the shots were fired from a northbound black Chevrolet Malibu or Impala.

Around 12:55 a.m. on Sunday, a tree was struck by bullets near LaSalle Street and Bluff Street. Police said a man dressed in a dark hooded-sweatshirt had apparently fired toward a white four-door sedan that was northbound on LaSalle Street, but struck a tree instead.

The shooter then ran westbound as the vehicle continued northbound on LaSalle Street, Ferrelli said.

The city has had 26 reported shooting incidents this year.

In addition to the two reported shootings on Sunday, police received reports of three incidents where suspects had fired blank rounds from weapons. Ferrelli said these are not added to the city’s shooting totals because the rounds were not live.

Around 7:10 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Marion Lane, a white SUV was seen leaving the area where blanks had been fired.

Ten minutes later, in the 300 block of LeGrande Boulevard, additional blank shots were reported. Police said casings were found in the 100 and 200 block of LeGrande Boulevard. There were no witnesses to this incident.

Around 4:40 p.m. Sunday witnesses reported hearing shots fired, and then seeing two men enter separate vehicles before fleeing the scene.

One vehicle was described as a Lincoln sedan with temporary plates. The second was described as a red convertible. The suspects were reported to both be black men between 18 and 20 years old, Ferrelli said. The man in the convertible was wearing a green jacket. The man who entered the Lincoln was reported to have dreadlocks, police said.

Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-550 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
