An argument at a house party early Saturday led to gunfire at a Glen Park home, police said.

One man was wounded and another is in custody, charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery, both felonies.

Derrion Polk, 41, was shot in the thigh about 2 a.m. as he, his cousin and his cousin’s girlfriend ran from the house in the 4500 block of Connecticut Street where the three had been attending a party, court records state.

Witnesses told police at the scene that Polk was at the back of the house and began arguing with Darell Love, 32, of Gary, the probable cause affidavit states. Love had a handgun and told Polk’s cousin and girlfriend to get Polk out of the house “before I kill dude! Imma give you five seconds to get outta here!” the affidavit states.

The three ran to the front door and Love allegedly fired two shots. Polk was shot in the thigh, police said. He refused to talk to police about the shooting, the affidavit states.

The victim’s cousin drove to Broadway and called police, then told officers what happened. Witnesses said the party was at a brick house with a sheet in the front window. Officers went to the house but no one appeared to be home. They found a shotgun in a bedroom.

While Sgt. Michael Barnes and Crime Scene Detective Roberta Figueroa gathered evidence at the house, Love and another man returned to the scene. Both were arrested, along with another man found hiding in the basement, court records state.
