Noble Kinsman, a craft brewery hoping to open in Oak Park, is one step closer to opening in Oak Park.

In an email sent to friends and supporters Feb. 25, co-owner Keith Huizinga said he and his co-owners were excited to have their brewery recommened for a liquor license by Oak Park’s Liquor Control Board.

“We have many hurdles to leap before the doors of Noble Kinsman will open to the public but we passed a significant one last night when the Oak Park Liquor Control Review Board voted to send a recommendation to the Village Board that a liquor license be issued to our proposed business,” Huizinga said in the email.

Last November, the village approved a special-use permit for the brewery to operate at 6806 Roosevelt Road. That was approved after the Village Board amended the village’s zoning code to allow craft breweries to operate within the village. At the time, the co-owners said they planned to open the brewery in 2015.

With Liquor Control Review Board’s recommendation in hand, the next step for the brewery to open is to get a liquor license and construction permits from the village as well as to get a permit from the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to operate the facility.

The Village Board is expected to consider the recommendation to grant a liquor license to Noble Kinsman at its March 16 meeting.
