Peaceful Parlour celebrates five years

After taking time off for the birth of her son, Shari Ralish found it difficult to return to her job in construction management. Ralish decided to follow her dream and open Peaceful Parlour, an eco-chic boutique, in downtown Geneva. “I wanted to show people how living a greener life could be easy and affordable,” says Ralish.

In February, Peaceful Parlour celebrated their fifth year in business and is still located in their original shop at 212 S. Third Street.

Peaceful Parlour is well known for the organic herbal teas that they hand mix in the store. Different teas are sampled daily and can be custom blended to suit your tastes. “We put love and intent into everything we do,” says Ralish.

Ralish likes to work with local artisans and carries locally made honey, lip balm and jewelry. Other products include hemp bags and purses, bamboo utensils, glass drinking straws and a line of green toys that are displayed in a separate kids’ room. “It’s great for families to see toys made from the things that they recycle every day,” says Ralish.

If the cold weather is keeping you at home, you can still shop for your favorite Peaceful Parlour products directly through their online store and ship them right to your front door. Gift certificates are also available.

In addition to selling eco-friendly products, Peaceful Parlour hosts a variety of guest speakers. March events include Psychic You, Learn to Develop your Intuitive Skills on March 20 and Moon Lodge/Red Tent Goddess Circle on March 29. To make reservations, call the store directly.

Other upcoming events, as well as coupons and specials, can be found on their website or Facebook page. Peaceful Parlour is offering $5 off a $25 purchase or $10 off of a $50 purchase through March 8.

Auto repair moves to bigger shop

RJ Automotive is growing again. The company is named for owner Ray Kindstrom and his wife, Jennifer. Starting out in his father-in-law’s small garage in Boulder Hill four years ago, Kindstrom moved the company to Oswego after asking his father-in-law, Doug Rudisuhle, to join him in the business.

On Feb. 19, the shop closed briefly to move to a larger location at 16. S. Cherry Street in Oswego, right behind River Heights Veterinary Clinic. They opened again for business on Feb. 23.

RJ Autotmotive is a full service auto repair shop. “There are a number of reasons we stand out from our competitors,” says Rudisuhle. “The quality of our service is top notch. We are honest and we charge a fair price.” RJ Automotive also offers free shuttle service, a 10% discount for seniors and a punch card for oil changes.
